Saint-Hill Colectivo expresses the cosmopolitan perspective of today’s music.
Bandleader, sax-player and singer Leandro Saint-Hill is supported in this project by other six exceptional musicians.
Since the creation of the band in 2008 Leandro has been developing and materializing his own musical concept. This has lead to an impressive gathering of different genres and styles. The groovy beats of funk are fused with Afrocaribbean rhythms to create a dynamic musical landscape that is completed by the emotive elements of soul, the improvisation of jazz and by meaningful lyrics.
Saint-Hill Colectivo’s debut work “Son my Soul” features 10 songs in a variety of musical genres. Nevertheless this diversity is consolidated by the bandleader’s Cuban and Afrocaribbean background and the influence of great artists such as The Brothers Johnson and Maceo Parker, elements that permeate every track on the album. “Son my Soul” is not only bristled with the prowess of the individual musicians and with exquisite solos, but also features guest appearances of Grammy winners and nominees such as Omar Sosa, Arturo Martinez, Nené Vasquez and Tony Martinez.
The result is an explosive symbiosis of funk/soul and Caribbean music, spiked with a fair pinch of contemporary jazz and Blues.
But the septet’s convincing performance not only happens in the studio, but also on stage. The delicious Cuban ad-libs over infectious beats have an enthralling effect on every kind of audience.
